Building A Better Community

Volunteer Service is the backbone of every GFWC Club, and it is the responsibility of each member to ensure our community that help is available in needed areas, called Departments. GFWC offers us five divisions of work with several categories for programs and projects for our activities, which then may be tailored by the local clubs to suit the particular needs of the community. These include Arts and Culture, Education and Libraries, Environment, Health and Wellness, and Civic Engagement and Outreach. Each year our members help satisfy the needs of each of the departments as projects are established, sometimes receiving recognition and awards at both district and state levels. The Philanthropy Chairperson selects service projects for the Departments and may solicit help from all members. Members are encouraged to support projects in any of these programs, depending on individual interests. The First Vice President serves as Dean of Chairpersons to promote an active interest in the objectives of the Club. Volunteer opportunities are as diverse and as interesting as our membership. See below for a general description of our five Community Service Programs and Special Programs.
